Guardian survival gear is a business founded on a dedication to creating quality kits for emergency survival. Born from watching the destruction of Hurricane Katrina and the struggle of not being prepared, Guardian Survival began producing comprehensive kits for a variety of needs.
Imagine a sudden disastrous event closing in right now; it’s no longer safe to leave your immediate area. Maybe you have a couple of snacks tucked into a lunch box but that won’t give you the energy needed to tackle a crisis situation.
Food bars are a great short term survival solution as they are lightweight, require no preparation and are made to be eaten on the go. All food bars included in these honey buckets have a 5 year shelf life and can withstand extreme temperatures of up to 149 degrees Fahrenheit – perfect for stashing at home, your car or office for peace of mind.
The Mayday buckets provide their bars in a single 2400 calorie serving with a pleasant apple cinnamon taste. It’s recommended to break the bars into smaller servings to replace each meal as they have a high caloric density, which means a single bar will fulfil the daily nutritional needs for the average adult.
The Guardian food bars have an enjoyable shortbread cookie flavour and come in smaller, portion controlled 400 calorie packs.
Access to clean water during a natural disaster or emergency situation is vital for survival. Not only can dehydration quickly become serious and life threatening, sterile water is necessary for cleaning wounds, washing your hands and keeping conditions sanitary. The 4 ounce water pouches contained in each kit are easy to dispense, simply open and drink straight from the packet.
The Mayday kit houses water pouches in a plastic package which transforms into a handy water bladder for storage. This makeshift canteen has an easy pour spout to reduce wastage and make it very easy to use.
Guardian buckets includes water purification tablets in addition to water pouches. The tablets are enough to make an additional 10 litres (2.6 Gallons) of water.
Solar or Emergency Blankets
Solar Blankets are also known as Mylar, space, emergency, space or first aid blankets and are an excellent survival tool. These shiny silver sheets work by reflecting body heat back towards you and are typically used to keep people warm.
A tip for wearing the blanket to keep warm is to take off your jacket, wrap the solar blanket around you and over your head. Then put your jacket back on, holding the blanket in place. This has the added benefit of wind-proofing your outfit as well!
Besides its use as a blanket, they make great insulation. For example if the power goes out during a storm or if you need to shelter in your car during a blizzard, you can attach the blanket to the windows, shiny side in, to reflect your body heat back into the space.
These blankets also work to keep you cool by reflecting heat away from you. Think about a sun shield for the windscreen of your car, they reflect heat back out of the vehicle. If you were trapped in an exposed area and needed respite from the sun and heat, you can replicate that effect by turning the blanket shiny side out.
The Solar Blankets reflective properties also make it an excellent tool for signalling if you are lost and in need of rescue. They can be easily affixed to your car, building or campground as a large and obvious sign of your whereabouts.
Emergency situations will always throw unexpected obstacles in your way – whether clearing an area of debris or making quick repairs, you will need some basic equipment.
Duct tape is a must have during an emergency. This strong, waterproof adhesive tape has uses that are only limited by your imagination. Traditionally duct tape is helpful for emergency repairs – patch over a broken window or seal up a leaking hose in your car. In a cinch it can be used for first aid by fashioning a makeshift sling, a bandage or butterfly suture.
The Gas and Water shut off tool is designed and tested by professional fire-fighters. In storms or earthquakes, structures can be damaged and it’s important to shut of gas and water valves to prevent further damage and protect your safety.
