What To Do Before and During a Thunderstorm
  • Before a violent thunderstorm, unplug radios and televisions and listen to the weather reports on a battery-powered radio.
  • In stormy weather, don’t touch any appliances, metal pipes, radiators, sinks, bathtubs, and any other conductors of electricity.
  • Don’t go outside to retrieve clothes from your clothesline as it may be a conductor of electricity.
  • If you’re outdoors, seek shelter.  If there are no nearby buildings, crouch down in a ditch or cave.  But, don’t ever take shelter under a tree.
