Safe Water With A British Imperial Water Filter
Filtering Your Water For Safety
There are many different brands of water filter on the market today. They often have different capabilities and filtering potential. You should always be aware, however, that many of them rely upon electricity in order to function. Whole house filters generally fall into this category. While life is progressing normally, with all the embellishments of civilization we are used to, these filters will help to provide you and your family with clean water. Be aware, however, that many whole house filters are designed for use in an urban or suburban setting where the water may be chlorinated. In this case, the filters usually will removed industrial pollutants, but will not be equipped to handle biological ones, because those will assume to have been eliminated with the chlorine.
The British Imperial Water Filter
Unfortunately, when a real disaster strikes, one of the first conveniences to go is electricity. Power lines are very vulnerable, and everything from earthquakes to hurricanes can cause a long interruption in electric power. Once the power is off, your water filter may be useless, too. Even if you have taken the precaution to store water in case of an emergency, you will probably run out within several days, and it will then be necessary to find a water source. This is exactly why you need a water filter that will not require electricity for its use. The British Imperial needs no electricity and will sit on your counter or table to provide you with up to 20 gallons of pure water a day. We have used a British Imperial in our home for over 5 years, and have nothing but praise for it.
Often, there is some source of water such as a river, stream, lake, or pond nearby. Although the water from any of these sources may look clear and clean, it will probably contain some potentially dangerous organisms. E. Coli, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Salmonella will all be removed by a British Imperial Water Filter. This filter has been a mainstay of many people to provide them with safe, clean, drinkable water whatever the situation. Besides removing biological contaminants, the British Imperial removes pesticides, herbicides, particulate matter, chlorine, and many other industrial pollutants.
This Filter Is Easy To Use
It is extremely easy to set up the British Imperial, all that is needed is to wash off the two ceramic ‘candles’ in water, install them in the top section of the filter, set this section onto the lower one and add water. You should let two gallons go through the filter to begin with and throw this water out. This first filtering is used only to remove any stray ceramic particles. Once that has been done, you can fill the top section again and use the water that results.

The candles can be cleaned every week or two, depending on how dirty they have become and should be replaced after a year or two. Cleaning the candles with a soft scrub will extend their useful life. A British Imperial Water Filter can make all the difference between surviving a disaster safely or becoming sick with a water-borne illness.
