CMC Bauman Bag
Those who enjoy wilderness activities such as mountain
climbing, camping, or skiing are often at risk of serious injury. Falls are a possibility and can produce a
number of serious and life-threatening injuries. Evacuating an injured person from the
wilderness or other inaccessible location can be difficult unless the CMC
Bauman Bag is used. This stretcher has
been designed to facilitate the evacuation of seriously injured people with the
aid of a helicopter. The CMC Bauman Bag
is used in situations where a helicopter is unable to land and evacuation will
be by means of a hoist.
The Bauman Bag can be used with a backboard or litter, or by
itself,  depending upon the circumstances, and has five
straps to assure patient security. The
single point suspension allows for stability and this stretcher is capable of
supporting 600 pounds. The Bauman Bag
itself weighs only 13 pounds, and the small space occupied by the stretcher
when it is in its storage bag means that it is easy to fit into even limited
spaces aboard the craft.
The bright orange color of the Bauman Bag maintains daytime
visibility and it has reflective tape and a pocket designed to hold light
